What is Aurora PAYG and how does it work?
Getting set up is a simple and affordable process: an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter is installed at your home or rental property* at a one-off cost of $55.
*If renting, you will require your landlord's approval before proceeding.
You are issued an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO card, which you can 'charge up' at any Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent. Simply put the card in the meter to transfer the power credits.
The display tells you how much prepaid electric power you have left, when it is time to get more, and gives you information about cheaper energy rates.

Signing up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO means you can pull the plug on power bills for good by installing a prepaid electricity meter. By purchasing credit in advance you will never get caught with another power bill - which makes household budgeting a whole lot simpler.

Aurora PAY AS YOU GO is currently used in over 43 000 households, with people enjoying the convenience and ease of use that Aurora PAY AS YOU GO offers, with no more bills and a lot more control.

Financial control

Take control of your finances with Aurora PAY AS YOU GO by purchasing credit in advance and never being surprised by another power bill again. The Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter lets you monitor your usage, and warns you when you are running low on credit. It also gives you information about 'Time of use' rates, so that you can take advantage of different rates at different times of the day. For example, if you run electrical appliances such as washing machines, dryers and dishwashers at night, you'll potentially notice a saving in your power costs.

Emergency Credit

To make sure you're never left in the dark, your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter features $10 of Emergency Credit . This provides a 'safety net' to ensure that if your available credit has run out, you won't be caught without power before you have the chance to get to an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent. The next time you visit your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent, you'll be able to recharge your card, including the Emergency Credit that has been used. For your safety and convenience you will not lose your electricity supply between 3pm and 10am even if you run out of Emergency Credit. However, if you run out of Emergency Credit before 3pm you will have to buy more credit to restore power. But remember, your meter display screen will alert you when credit is low.
