After the initial set-up costs for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO, you can take control of your household budget by familiarising yourself with the rates and charges and monitoring your power use.
You can take advantage of different electricity rates at different times of the day. The less power you use in the higher rate times, the more potential to save.
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter
When you sign up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO, a prepayment electricity meter will be installed at your home to replace the standard meter for a one-off installation fee of $50 (excl. GST). If you change your mind about the benefits of Aurora PAY AS YOU GO within three months, we will remove your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter free of charge*.
* Please note if you choose this option it will be your responsibility to choose another electricity retailer and pay any costs incurred to enter into a new contract.
If you move into a residence that already has an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter installed, a one-off establishment fee of $22.70 (excl. GST) will be charged. This fee is paid when you pick up your card from your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent.
Aurora Smart Card
Once you have received your Aurora Smart Card, sign it immediately. You can then purchase up to $200 of credit by taking the card to an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent* where it will be "recharged" at an electronic terminal.
*Please note that Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agents prefer cash transactions and are not obliged to accept cheques, EFTPOS or credit cards.
Daily charges
Daily fixed charges are debited against your meter every day, regardless of whether or not you are using electricity. These charges are outlined in the table below, or for more information phone one of our friendly customer service representatives on 1300 10 20 10.
