What if I am moving into a new house and want to get an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter?

To sign up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO in your new house, simply fill in an online application form, call the Aurora Customer Service Centre on 1300 10 20 10, or pick up an application form from an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent, fill it in and post it back to us.

What if I am moving into a house that already has an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter?

If you have just moved into premises with an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter, you will need to contact Aurora by calling 1300 10 20 10.

You will receive a code number to give to nearest Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent so you can collect a new Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Smart Card. A one-off establishment fee of $25 applies. This fee is paid when you pick up your Smart Card from your Recharge Agent.

Please note: Do not use a previous customer's card or you will be responsible for their debts.

What if I am moving out?

If you are moving out please call us on 1300 10 20 10 to advise that you will no longer be responsible for the electricity supply at that address. A $55 moving out fee will apply. When you leave, you should power down your meter. This can be done by pressing the blue button for five seconds — the meter will then start beeping. If you insert your Smart Card while still holding the blue button in, any outstanding credit will be downloaded onto your card.

Take your Smart Card to your nearest Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent to claim any remaining credit. The Agent will keep the card. Aurora Energy generally requires at least three days notice before you leave your premises. Any amount more than $100 must be refunded by Aurora by calling 1300 10 20 10.

If you do not return the Smart Card you will still be responsible for all the daily fixed charges.

What if I am renting?

Aurora PAY AS YOU GO is great for rental properties, especially if you have just moved in and don't know how much it costs to heat — or cool — your home.

Aurora PAY AS YOU GO is also a good option if you are sharing household expenses with others. You don't have to worry about trying to divide the bill — just take turns putting credit on your Smart Card.

All you need to do is get permission from your landlord. You may even be able to recover, or share, the cost of the initial installation.

Is my Smart Card transferable from one house to another?

For security reasons, your Smart Card will only work on your meter. If you are moving house, you will need to call us on 1300 10 20 10 to cancel your service and return your Smart Card. Once you move into your new premises, contact us to sign up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO again and you will be issued with a new Smart Card.
