How much does it cost to sign up?
There is a one-off installation fee of $70 to have an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter installed. This fee is paid when you pick up your Smart Card from the Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent. After you have paid your installation fee, you can 'charge up' your card with any amount between $5 and $200.
If you are moving into a residence that already has an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter, a one-off establishment fee of $30 applies and this will be charged to your card. This fee is paid when you pick up your card from the Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent.
How can I manage my electricity costs?
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO offers Time of Use pricing, which means that you can take advantage of different electricity rates at different times of the day. You'll also notice that there are pricing combinations for weekdays, weekends and different months of the year. This means that you can save on your electricity costs by using appliances during the cheaper times. For example, if you run your washing machine, dishwasher or dryer in the evening or at night, you'll potentially notice a saving in your power costs. Even simple things like doing your ironing in the evening can save you money.
Can I save money using Aurora PAY AS YOU GO?
Everyone has different electricity needs, so saving money depends on you and how and when you use your appliances. If you shift your pattern of use to cheaper timeslots you can save money.
Why are the Aurora PAY AS YOU GO daily charges different?
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO fixed charges can be higher than some other energy retailers' regulated charges due to maintenance and connection to the electricity system and provision of Aurora PAY AS YOU GO infrastructure and administration.
How much does it cost to replace my Smart Card?
If your Smart Card is lost or stolen, you should report it to Aurora on 1300 13 2003. You will be given a code which you can use to collect a replacement card from your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent.
If damage occurs to your Smart Card through your own actions, then you need to report that to Aurora by calling 1300 10 2003. You will be told to destroy that card and given a code number that you can use to collect a replacement Smart Card from your Recharge Agent.
There is a $20 card replacement fee that is paid upon collection of your new Smart Card from the Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Agent.
There is no replacement fee if your Smart Card is faulty.
How do I monitor my power use?
The display on your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter will always show the value of the credit (or debt) that is in the meter.
The value is affected by:
- the amount of credit you have transferred from your Smart Card to the meter
- the amount of electricity you use
- daily fixed charges.
What are the rates for power use?
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO has different rates depending on whether you're a Standard Light and Power, Aurora Heating Discount or OffPeak customer. There are pricing combinations for weekdays, weekends and different times of the year (summer rates and winter rates apply seasonally).
