Why should I change from my current service?
When you install an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter in your home, you will never receive another power bill again!
Your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter lets you see how much electricity you are using and how much it costs, and will help you take advantage of cheaper electricity time slots throughout the day.
Is the meter hard to use?
The Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter is very simple to operate. We install the prepaid electricity meter and give you a Smart Card when you sign up. Then you purchase 'electricity credits' which are placed onto your Smart Card.
You can charge your Smart Card at your nearest Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent with any amount between $5 and $200. You transfer the credit onto your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter by inserting the Smart Card into the slot on the meter. Your meter will tell you what credit you have, your daily and hourly power use, the various rates that apply, and alert you when you are low on credit.
How do I charge my meter?
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meters are based on Smart Card technology. Once you collect your card, sign it immediately (if your card is lost or stolen, your Smart Card will only work on your meter). Your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO card is 'charged' with electricity credits that you purchase in any amount between $5 and $200 by taking the card to an Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agent.*
*Please note: Aurora PAY AS YOU GO Recharge Agents prefer cash transactions and are not obliged to accept cheques, EFTPOS or credit cards.
The process for charging up your meter is the same, whether you have a Siemens PAY AS YOU GO Meter or an ACTARIS Talexus Payguard. When you insert the card in your meter, the credits are transferred and you have prepaid your electricity. You can recharge your Smart Card by purchasing more credit when it suits you.
Is there anyone who can't sign up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO?
For safety reasons, Aurora PAY AS YOU GO cannot be connected to residences that have any medical life support systems that run on mains power.
Aurora PAY AS YOU GO can only be connected to a single-phase power supply (most residences run on single-phase power but if you are unsure, call a licensed electrical contractor).
You must be able to safely access your own meter box in order to insert your Smart Card and press the buttons on your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter.
How much does it cost?
There is a one-off installation fee of $70 to have your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter installed. After that, Aurora PAY AS YOU GO rates and charges apply.
Time of Use pricing means that you can take advantage of different rates at different times of the day. The more power you use in the cheaper rate times, the more you potentially save.
What if I don't like it?
We're so sure you'll love the benefits of Aurora PAY AS YOU GO that we have backed it with a satisfaction guarantee. If you sign up for Aurora PAY AS YOU GO and are not completely satisfied within 3–months, Aurora will remove your Aurora PAY AS YOU GO meter free of charge*.
